Evers’ New Home And Garage-On-The-Go
02/08/2007

You can’t ask a man to do a boy’s job. That was Edwin Evers’ philosophy when the former small college football player turned tenacious fishing pro, bought a monstrous Freightliner truck to serve as his tow vehicle for the 2007 Bassmaster Elite Series season.

And that’s not even the biggest part of the rig. Towed behind the Freightliner is a 45’-long, Zephyr hauler capable of housing Evers’ new NITRO Z-9 …and essentially every piece of tackle he owns.

Physical size aside, attention grabbing graphics touting Optima’s BlueTop, spill-proof Marine Batteries make it a can’t miss marketing opportunity for both Edwin and his sponsors. “To tell you the truth, I believed in the utility of this truck and trailer so much, that I sort of jumped off the deep end, and bought the truck before Optima graciously agreed to be the primary sponsor.”

“I asked the guys at Dynamic Sponsorships here in Oklahoma for help in designing the graphics package to make sure Optima got their money’s worth. But they didn’t just create a cool wrap, they made sure there was synergy between my truck, trailer and boat, and all of my sponsors when they designed the graphics package. I’ve had so much on my plate leading up to this Classic, I couldn’t have pulled it off without their help.”

“The truck is a Freightliner Custom Chassis with a 330 Mercedes diesel engine under the hood, it’s obviously a truck that’s built for towing, yet it has a drop down television and a fold-down sleeper in the cab,” explained the 7-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier.

“What I like most about the trailer is the ability to store and organize tackle and keep it secure. I’ve always camped, as opposed to staying in hotels, but a conventional RV is not built for the life of a pro angler. This rig definitely is. It has two 24’ long cabinets that I’ve already filled with tackle storage trays, line and extra rods. It’s going to be so awesome to be able to back the boat in at the end of the day and have every piece of tackle I own at arm’s reach. Plus, the ability to work and organize equipment for the next day in a dry and heated/air conditioned environment simply adds to your overall performance on the water,” said Evers.

The Freightliner powerhouse of this unique rig will also serve as a head-turning tow vehicle for Evers’ NITRO Z-9. Certainly, that’s one tow vehicle that nobody will overlook as Edwin maneuvers to and from the boat ramp. Meanwhile, the 45’ long, ‘garage-on-the-go’, with built-in sponsor billboard, will sit lakeside at a nearby campground to provide comfort and utility upon Evers’ arrival ‘home’ at the end of each long day on the water.

Fans can get an up close look at Evers’ new rig at the Outdoor Expos that accompany many of the Bassmaster Elite Series events throughout the season.

The BASS ZONE will be doing a special "In the House" feature on Edwin's home on the road in the coming weeks.
